SALE OF THE DECADE |
HJ Pugh & Co were privileged to be able to offer for sale the Peter Bourne private collection of on Saturday 10th October 2009. Peter has been collecting vintage and classic tractors, implements and literature for the last 20 years and stored them in purpose built and heated buildings at Ynyslas, Near Borth, The collection of 133 tractors, many classed as very rare, and in exceptional condition of which only one didn’t drive onto the sale field. This is a testament to the pride and dedication Peter, and all those that help him have in their work. One tractor’s restoration was only completed the week before the sale a County Four Drive which sold for £13,000.
The sale also presented a once in a life time opportunity to purchase a concourse condition County Leyland 4100 Equal Wheeled 4x4 tractor. It is a previous Tractor and Machinery Show winner, restored by Wyard Scott and sold for a resounding £33,000 to a collector from Scotland.
There were several other equal wheeled machines on offer as well, prices for these were as follows: 1967 Nuffield Bray 10/60 £21,000 which also went to Scotland, International 634 County 522 £17,200, County Super 4 Dual Control £11,500, 1970 Roadless 115 £9,800, 1963 Roadless Super 6 £6,800 and a 1968 County 1124 £3,600.
As part of his collection Mr Bourne also had 22 Allis Chalmers tractors which attracted a lot of attention from the UK and Ireland, as well as Holland and Germany amongst others on the continent. One tractor sold was an 1937 Allis Chalmers WC High Crop, this made £6,100. Other prices included a circa 1939 Allis A £5,200, circa 1948 Allis WD45/WF Styled tractor which made £5,100, 1939 Allis U £4,500, 1940 Allis WF Styled tractor £3,700, 1948 Allis G £3,600 and a 1942 Allis M Crawler £3,000.
Other tractor prices included 1920 Advance Rumley 16-30 £19,000, 1964 Roadless Ploughmaster 2/4 £16,000, 1950 Field Marshall Series 3 £13,500, 1923 Case 22/40 Crossmount tractor £13,400, 1952 Turner Yeoman of England £11,000, 1936 Massey Harris Challenger £9,600, 1919 Fordson F £9,200, John Deere 830 £9,200, Roadless RAF Halftrack £8,100, 1952 Nuffield DM4/3 conversion £7,300, 1966 John Deere 4020 £6,400 and a 1942 Minneapolis Moline UTS with Perkins conversion £4,800.
Several ploughs also sold well, including a rare Ransome Sims and Jefferies Reversible horse drawn plough which fetched £700 and a Hornsby horse drawn 2 furrow plough which made £440. A Fergusson potato planter sold for £480. Also offered were two early Jones balers, one a Lion Panther stationary baler sold for £6,800. and a later pick up baler for restoration fetched £1500,
