NORTON BIG 4 MAKES BIG MONEY |
H J Pugh & Co held another successful Vintage & Classic Motorcycle auction at their Ledbury Salerooms, which had its usual collection of motorcycles, spaces and literature for all buyers to get interested in.
From the selection of motorcycles top price was for a 1959 Matchless G3LC 350 works trial bike, which sold for a very respectable £3,550. Another fantastic price was £2700 for a 1951 Norton Big 4 600 which surprised a number of onlookers.
Other motorcycle prices included 1958 Aerial HT 350 Trials £2700, 1930 Rudge Whitworth 350cc £2650, 1957 Triumph 3TA £2000, 1954 Matchless G3LC Trials £2000, 1976 Triumph £1850.
Literature prices included 3 Copies TT Special 1973 TT £55, various brochures including Norton, Triumph, MG, Morgan etc £40, The Book of the AJS & other Pitman’s £28, 120 copies of Motorcycle Mechanics £25, The Book of the Matchless WC Haycraft & others £24.
The spares continued the good trade and the following prices were obtained, Complete Villiers 9E engine 197cc £280, Triumph Bonneville pre unit 3 gallon petrol tank £190, BSA C15 250cc engine spares £170, Fuel tank with central fixing BSA £165, OK supreme lightweight front forks and handle bar, fuel tank £150, KTM 250 motorcycle in bits for spares / repairs £120, Villiers bottom end £105, Villiers 9E engine bottom & barrel £100, Ariel Arrow engine barrel & spares £80, Box of various BMW motorcycle parts £50.
Overall the prices were higher than estimations, which pleased Howard Pugh, auctioneer. Entries are already being taken for forthcoming auction. Any queries please contact Sam Smith or Howard Pugh.
