SHEPTON MALLET GROWS LARGER THAN ALL EXPECTATIONS
H J Pugh & Co were once again invited to conduct the annual auction at the Somerset Vintage & Classic Tractor Show at the Bath & West Showground for the fourth year running. The organiser Mr Alan Gates and his team are putting a huge amount of effort into this show, which resulted in a record number of entries for the show and a record number of lots in the auction. A record amount of £12,000 was given to charity on Sunday from the show proceeds.

At 10.30am when the auction commenced there was approximately 850 lots entered to be sold. This was way in advance of what we were expecting. The lots consisted of many different types from tractors, implements, spares and tools.

From the collection of over 30 tractors, mainly for restoration. the prices included Farmall Cub £1140, Leyland 344 £1000, 1964 Fordson Super Major £940, Fordson Major £880, David Brown 850 Implematic £920, 1961 International 275, £900, 1977 International 674 £810, International trackair £680, 1960 Fordson Dexta £600, Ferguson T20 £480.

The trade for the implements continued to be strong. Prices included 1950 Ferguson tipping trailer £1510, Circa 1930 German Muller & Spiller threshing machine £500, Ransomes TS90 3 furrow plough £400, Ransomes trailed cultivator £280, 2 Furrow reversible plough £270, Ransomes 2 Furrow plough £260, Lister cockshutt No. 6 2 Furrow plough £205, Lister cockshutt No. 6 3 Furrow plough £200, Ferguson spring cultivator £200, Ferguson weeder £170, Narrow transport box made for Ferguson TEK vineyard tractor £130, Ferguson 3 furrow plough £105.

Spares were also strong. Prices included Pair Fordson E27N P6 headlamps and brackets £400, Massey Ferguson seat £220, Fordson engine £195, P3 engine £180, Box of Massey Ferguson lights £110, Tailor-made lift arm lock for Ferguson TE20 £100, Early magneto £95, Ferguson t-bar £50.
