PLOUGH KING
A crowd to match Tractor World. When Howard Pugh, auctioneer, made his opening words where he thanked the Vaughan family for their kind instructions to offer a fantastic selection of well known and used championship ploughs and tractors of the late Frank Vaughan there was quite possibly 40 people deep all around the sale truck.

Buyers had descended from all over Europe to try and acquire this well maintained machinery and parts. It became evident at an early stage of the auction that the trade was going to be strong. Lot 1 - Ferguson top link £50, Ferguson T-bar £60 and Ford top link £170.

Implements continued the brisk trade: Ferguson potato planter £500, Fordson Ransome PD4B hydraulic mounted potato spinner £400, Ferguson potato planter £320, Ferguson potato spinner £280, Potato planter £240, Lister Blackstone trailed potato spinner £180, David Brown 3 row ridger £120.

There were two very rare Ferguson implements. These were a three point linkage crane and a PTO winch and anchor. These sold for £1,450 and £1,650 respectively. Howard Pugh commented that these were the best prices he had ever achieved.

It was then the turn of the fantastic collection of ploughs. Top price was for a Ransomes TS59 furrow plough £2000.

Other ploughs and prices included Ransome Robin 2 furrow match plough £1900, Ransomes Motrac No 3 Two furrow trailed plough £750, International B12 two furrow match plough £700, International B12 two furrow plough £680, International 2 furrow trailed plough £550, Ferguson 2 furrow plough £500, David Brown 2 furrow plough £500, Ransomes Motrac No 3 two furrow trailed plough £450.

The tractors all sold for what they were worth, these being as follows David Brown 880 implematic tractor £3900, David Brown 30D tractor £3400, David Brown 990 implematic tractor £3100, International B250 tractor with loader £2600, Nuffield 4/25 mini tractor £2500, Fordson Dexta tractor £2200, Ransome MG 5 crawler £920, Mayfield Merlin garden tractor £520.
